The EAES COMMITMENT with the ASSOCIATION OF ENDOSCOPIC SURGEONS OF BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA

The world has been immersed in this pandemic in the last two years since the first Congress of the Association of Endoscopic Surgeons of Bosnia and Herzegovina was held. In these difficult times, it has been necessary to adapt our paradigms on training and education to new trends, where tele-mentoring and webinars and online conferences have played an important role in making it more accessible due to the difficulties of travel and the needs of get involved in the frontline against the coronavirus. Without a doubt, during these times we have learned that this form of teaching will be an important pillar in training surgeons in the future.
Based on the above statement, we have an important challenge in front of us: to combine these new trends in education with the traditional training systems, which are necessary to interact with leaders and mentors from all over the world and learn those technical and non-technical skills needed to become a good surgeon; skills that cannot be learned in front of the screen of your laptop or mobile devices. For these reasons, I am convinced that congresses are necessary since human interaction and face-to-face scientific discussions are basic tools to learn, teach and discover the new trends in surgery, and I am glad to see that the Association of Endoscopic Surgeons of Bosnia & Herzegovina is organizing a second edition of its meeting.
It is a real honor for me and for the EAES to welcome you to the 2nd Congress of the Association of Endoscopic Surgery of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in these times when one of the main goals of EAES is to promote National Societies and work together with them to improve endoscopic surgery in their countries. Our society will always try to support this type of initiatives, in addition to wanting to thank the Bosnia-Herzegovina Society for all the work it has been done to increase the number of EAES members in its country.
EAES wants to promote basic training in endoscopic surgery and, at the same time, provide innovation and technological advances to increase the effectiveness of our surgical procedures. The EAES will work to bring all the concepts associated with these revolutions in surgery to all corners of Europe, making it as accessible as possible and promoting training in these new ways of understanding surgery.
We will be able to achieve and promote a passion for endoscopic surgery and innovation by joining forces with local societies, which is today one of the basic principles and a commitment of the EAES.
